About This Course

Agile is an approach to business that focuses on adaptability. The Agile philosophy emphasises an iterative approach with regular review and strong customer collaboration. The Agile philosophy can transform how finance works - encouraging continuous improvement and flexibility as customer and market needs change.

This course translates Agile principles into real finance use cases, showing finance professionals how to increase speed and responsiveness while maintaining the control and stakeholder trust their function depends on.

Across five lessons, we build a complete picture of Agile Accounting. We start with the five elements of the Agile philosophy, and the use of the Scrum methodology to give them structure. From there, we apply these principles to finance processes. We show how the Agile approach can benefit transactional processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and expenses management. We then extend the approach to strategic finance processes such as period-end close, treasury and tax - showing how Agile ways of working shorten the gap between a problem emerging and it being addressed.

The course emphasises the importance of governance and shows how Agile improves control and reduces risk without weakening the deadlines, sign-offs or controls those processes depend on.

The course also looks at Agile decision making and how authority can be pushed down to the people doing the work, within defined boundaries; and we examine the KPIs that can show how effectively the Agile approach is working and the benefits it is delivering.

The course closes with a practical Quickstart Guide to help you choose a process, build a team, and run your first Agile Sprint.

This course is designed for finance professionals and leaders looking for practical, controlled ways to bring speed and continuous improvement to their finance function - without sacrificing the accuracy and governance their stakeholders rely on.

Is this course eligible for my CPD requirements as a Canadian CPA?

Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.

Every course offered on LearnFormula is delivered by a qualified subject matter expert or learning organization, and advances learning objectives that are relevant to the responsibilities or professional competencies of Canadian CPAs. All activities on LearnFormula are quantifiable in terms of hours, and are also verifiable, in that users receive documented evidence of their attendance via a certificate of completion after finishing a course (and this certificate is stored by LearnFormula indefinitely). Nearly 100,000 Canadian CPAs successfully satisfy their CPD requirements via LearnFormula on an annual basis.
