Learn how to Map Processes for Improvement
Current State Process Mapping is a course that teaches employees how to map current state processes, so they can paint a picture of the ‘as-is’ with the goal to make the process more efficient and better for everyone involved. By understanding current state processes and how to improve them, participants will learn how to identify them for customers and organizational employees, to improve efficiencies and exceed requirements.
You will learn how to examine cutting-edge, customer-focused approaches toward current-state process mapping that will help them document and improve key/core processes and services. They will also be able to simplify current state process mapping and identify maps best suited for specific purposes and appropriate audiences. Participants will be empowered with the methodology to document the flow of a process from input to output and to provide a focal point from which to analyze opportunities for organizational improvement. They will be given the chance to practice current state process mapping by using a realistic in-class case study.

Dr. Adam Stoehr is a business excellence strategy expert and employee happiness researcher. He is one of Excellence Canada's primary facilitators and speakers. He researches and typically speaks about strategy, employee happiness, organizational excellence, customer experience, leadership, process improvement and all forms of quality management. Adam has delivered talks for more than 25,000 adults and has conducted more than 20 Canada Awards for Excellence award verifications since 2000. He has a PhD in Business Strategy from the University of the West of England, Bristol Business School. His published thesis explores the relationship between a strategic approach to quality and employee happiness. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and French degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.

This course is a very good introduction on this topic. I work to support and modernized a key process in my day to day but never took any academic training on process mapping. This course was able to fill in some of the blanks that I had. I appreciate the concrete examples used and found many of them amusing as a fellow Canadian.
