Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE)

About This Course

In this course you will learn how to calculate budgets at today’s prices and forecast the equivalent inflation adjusted amounts likely required at retirement to cover minimum monthly expenditure.

You will also learn about tools to manage investments such as those held on the stock market, and forecast investment outcomes to determine your ability to retire at your target age.

It will also guide you through more complex financial decision making such as impacts on financial outcomes where a mortgage is paid up early using an investment lump sum or regular repayments.

The financial forecasting tools are included with formulae in an easy-to-use Excel workbook which will be explained in detail throughout this course. All you need to do is enter your own data.

Some additional tips and tricks in Excel are included in the course such as how to link your investment portfolio to an external data source so that prices update in real time.

Credit Information

Is this course eligible for my CPD requirements as a Canadian CPA?

Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.

Every course offered on LearnFormula is delivered by a qualified subject matter expert or learning organization, and advances learning objectives that are relevant to the responsibilities or professional competencies of Canadian CPAs. All activities on LearnFormula are quantifiable in terms of hours, and are also verifiable, in that users receive documented evidence of their attendance via a certificate of completion after finishing a course (and this certificate is stored by LearnFormula indefinitely). Nearly 100,000 Canadian CPAs successfully satisfy their CPD requirements via LearnFormula on an annual basis.
