An overview of Accident Benefits: What they are, and how to apply

In this course, we provide an overview of ano-fault or accident benefits claims. We will discuss who is eligible to make accident benefits claims, and which insurers should be selected if more than one may be deemed responsible. This course addresses the process of claiming common accident benefits: Medical and rehabilitation, attendant care, income replacement, caregiver, and non-earner. We address such topics as what form should be requested and completed, what time limitations there are in submitting a form, both for the insured and insurer, and how to choose an insurer where more than one may be held responsible.
In part 1 we will explain the process of applying for accident benefits: How to begin an application, dispute resolution, and limitation periods are all touched upon.
In part 2 we will discuss the procedure for claiming accident benefits and the technicalities that are involved in successfully applying for accident benefits.
Part 3 addresses medical and rehabilitation benefits and will teach you more about who can apply, and what the limitations are.
In part 4 you will learn about the payment of benefits. We will give you an overview of sections 46.1 to 56 in the sabs.
And lastly, in part 5, we talk about insurer examinations, insurer rights, and applicant obligations. Here you will get an overview of the various duties imposed on ab applicants.
