What does active listening involve
Active listening is not the same as hearing or listening and requires both focus and concentrated effort. It means fully concentrating on what is being said and trying to understand it. A lot of the time we are listening and formulating what to say next or answer before the person has finished talking so we do not give ourselves time to fully understand what is being said. When you practice active listening, you are fully concentrating on what is being said. You listen with all of your senses and give your full attention to the person speaking.

Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.

This was an excellent course! This identified both the "dos" and the "don'ts" of listening and covered the reasons why really well. The course was a little confusing in how it was laid out but I was able to adjust to that and the material was really good. A number of the rules, hints and suggestions were duplicated in various sections [which had non descriptive headings such as JAComMod1 but this was not a major problem] which I found very helpful. This course was valuable for so many areas of life from professional to every day communications with family and friends. It was in some ways life changing as being careful and helpful in listening and communicating can really improve your life! Excellent! Also loved the Goldilocks and the 3 bears story and quiz at the end!
