Learn many of Excel’s advanced tools for analyzing and communicating your data.

At the expert level, Excel becomes a platform for financial modeling, statistical analysis, and connected reporting across multiple datasets. Relationships link separate tables through a shared column so that PivotTables can draw on data from several sources at once, while 3D references and paste links pull values across worksheets and workbooks that update as the source changes. Financial functions such as PMT, NPER, and RATE handle loan and annuity calculations, and information functions such as ISBLANK, ISNUMBER, and IFERROR keep formulas reliable when data is missing or produces errors. This course is built for users who already command Excel's core features and want to model outcomes, audit complex formulas, and analyze large datasets with confidence.
The program covers date and workday calculations through WORKDAY, WORKDAY.INTL, and NETWORKDAYS, along with the INDEX function for locating values within a range. It moves into what-if analysis with the Solver add-in and scenario management, formula auditing with Evaluate Formula and the Watch Window, and the statistical tools in the Analysis ToolPak including Descriptive Statistics, Rank and Percentile, and Sampling. Participants build advanced visualizations with waterfall, treemap, funnel, and map charts, and work with 3D maps to plot geographic and time based data. The course also develops advanced PivotTable and PivotChart techniques, including calculated items, GETPIVOTDATA, and slicer behavior, and closes with recording macros in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), applying digital signatures, and restoring earlier file versions through version history.
Learning Objectives
This course is designed for advanced Excel users working in Microsoft 365. It assumes command of formulas, charting, and PivotTables at the level covered in earlier Excel training, and reflects the features available in the 2025 version of the application.

Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.
Every course offered on LearnFormula is delivered by a qualified subject matter expert or learning organization, and advances learning objectives that are relevant to the responsibilities or professional competencies of Canadian CPAs. All activities on LearnFormula are quantifiable in terms of hours, and are also verifiable, in that users receive documented evidence of their attendance via a certificate of completion after finishing a course (and this certificate is stored by LearnFormula indefinitely). Nearly 100,000 Canadian CPAs successfully satisfy their CPD requirements via LearnFormula on an annual basis.
