Alison Moonsie-Mohan is the Director of Legal Services/Senior Counsel at York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS). With 26 years of legal experience, Alison has been instrumental in shaping the organization's legal strategies and provides senior leadership. Alison also serves as co-chair for the Senior Counsel Network Group at the OACAS. Her legal journey began in Trinidad and Tobago, where she was called to the Bar in 2000 after transitioned from teaching high school science to pursuing law as her second career serving as a Public Prosecutor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions prior to emigrating to Canada. Alison's leadership extends beyond her professional role. As former vice-president of the York Region Law Association (YRLA), she chaired both the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Committee, the Employee Relations Committee and served on the Governance Committee. Her commitment to youth empowerment is evident through her position on the Board of Directors at YouthSpeak. Additionally, Alison serves as the Chair of the Ministry and Personnel Committee at Trinity United Church in Newmarket and actively contributes to the Affirming and Inclusivity Committee. A passionate advocate for the environment and social justice issues, Alison is dedicated to making a positive impact in her community.
Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.
