About This Course

PowerPoint is a widely available resource that is potentially underutilized by accountants because many accountants do not stray beyond Excel and Word in the Microsoft Office suite. You will learn how to create and edit a professional PowerPoint slide deck. This session places particular emphasis on efficiency tips and tricks that will allow you to develop creative, professional visual aids while minimizing time and effort.

The course’s author will share personal insights he has cultivated throughout more than two decades of public speaking. Although the session will focus on creating and editing slides, we will illustrate best practices for presentation delivery. We also will explain how PowerPoint can be used for purposes other than delivering presentations.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • Navigating the PowerPoint interface and leveraging core menus (Design, Home, Insert).
  • Utilizing efficiency tools like the Slide Master and content duplication.
  • Enhancing slides with Smart Art, pictures, video, and audio.
  • Applying best practices for slide layout, content, and presentation delivery.
  • Planning your message, overcoming writer's block, and organizing complex information.
  • Exploring advanced capabilities like creating videos from presentations and using valuable add-ins.

Equipped with these practical skills, you will confidently transform data into visual narratives, making your presentations more impactful and saving valuable time.

Credit Information

Is this course eligible for my CPD requirements as a Canadian CPA?

Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.

Every course offered on LearnFormula is delivered by a qualified subject matter expert or learning organization, and advances learning objectives that are relevant to the responsibilities or professional competencies of Canadian CPAs. All activities on LearnFormula are quantifiable in terms of hours, and are also verifiable, in that users receive documented evidence of their attendance via a certificate of completion after finishing a course (and this certificate is stored by LearnFormula indefinitely). Nearly 100,000 Canadian CPAs successfully satisfy their CPD requirements via LearnFormula on an annual basis.
