Write to both inform and connect with your readers.

When we write for work, we have a lot to consider—including questions like, “How much detail should I include?” and “How can I be concise while still explaining everything I need to say?” As we write to inform our readers, though, we have a second, simultaneous goal: connecting with them. Just as we work to create clear, concise messages, we can also ensure our messages are connected and relational.
Strategic business writing means thinking about both informative goals like clarity and concision, and relational goals like tone, respect, and empathy. This class shares three strategies for conveying clear, concise information and three strategies for writing to convey respect and connect with your readers through intentional business writing.

Practical writing and communication skills for work, school, and life.
High-Value Writing is a modern-day virtual school on a mission to help everyone use writing to their advantage—to meet goals and build positive relationships. We believe everyone deserves to navigate writing and communication with flexibility and confidence. By being adaptable in our writing, we can make intentional communication decisions that benefit our lives and relationships. That’s why High-Value Writing teaches communication principles that extend across all areas of writing—from business writing to academic writing to poetry and prose. In 2018, Erin Lebacqz started High-Value Writing to disrupt the ways we teach, use, and talk about writing. Our workshops, books, videos, and eLearning courses empower you to use practical communication strategies intentionally and independently. We believe strategic writing is one of the most effective ways to meet goals and improve personal and professional relationships. We hope you’ll join our growing community on this path towards a world connected by thoughtful, intentional communication.
Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.
Every course offered on LearnFormula is delivered by a qualified subject matter expert or learning organization, and advances learning objectives that are relevant to the responsibilities or professional competencies of Canadian CPAs. All activities on LearnFormula are quantifiable in terms of hours, and are also verifiable, in that users receive documented evidence of their attendance via a certificate of completion after finishing a course (and this certificate is stored by LearnFormula indefinitely). Nearly 100,000 Canadian CPAs successfully satisfy their CPD requirements via LearnFormula on an annual basis.
