Human Resource professionals and leaders have a social obligation to our Veterans that goes beyond simply celebrating their service once a year during Remembrance Day. It also is more than self-assigning a “Veteran friendly” label because an effort is made to recruit and hire Veterans.
Research shows that many Veterans struggle with the transition from their life and career as a military service member to one as a civilian. In organizations, these transitional issues result in reduced engagement and costly turnover among our Veteran candidates and employees. Kathy Crenshaw has a Masters in Education in Learning and Instructional Technology from Arizona State University and has 30 years’ experience in talent management, organizational development, leadership and performance management, training program design and course development, and process re-engineering. She is certified in multiple leadership and competency models, change management philosophies, Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies, and maintains the HR professional certifications of SPHR and CSP-SHRM. She is a published author of a book and multiple articles and has been selected to speak at national, state and local conferences on leadership development and diversity issues specializing in onboarding and retaining Veterans. Kathy has experience within multiple industries to include manufacturing and distribution, real estate, banking and finance, healthcare, energy, aviation, and higher education. Kathy lives in Arizona with her husband and enjoys family time with her daughters and their families. When she isn’t working…and even when she is…she likes to play and work from her second home in Rocky Point, Mexico.

Linda Maddy has a Masters in Social Work from Portland State University and has worked over 15 years as a licensed clinical social worker. She worked exclusively with Veterans for eleven years with concentrations in complex addictions and mental health, and is a national master trainer on Veterans’ post-deployment reintegration issues. Linda was one of the founding members of the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs Veterans Justice Outreach program. As part of the program she worked with Veterans in the criminal justice system, trained law enforcement on Veteran issues and helped develop Veterans Courts. Linda is a certified instructor for: Mental Health First Aid for Public Safety, Trauma Informed Response for Criminal Justice Officer and Certified Crisis Intervention Specialist II. Linda has certifications in Trauma Informed Practice, Critical Incident Stress Management, Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator, and National Anger Management Specialist II. Linda provides supervision for clinicians seeking licensure. Linda lives in Vancouver, WA with her husband and their Great Pyrenees, Gracie and Corgi, Rocky. She is blessed with her three adult children and their families, seven grandkids and one great grandchild.
Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.
