About This Course

The course will focus on professional corporations in Ontario. The goal is to ensure that accountants are aware of planning opportunities for their professional clients.

The course will deal with tax planning issues related to doctors, dentists, lawyers and accountants in Ontario. We will look atgeneral planning considerations, recent changes and more specific planning techniques.

Specific topics areas will include:

  • General considerations for a professional to incorporate.
  • The impact of the Tax on Split Income (TOSI) rules for professional corporations.
  • The impact of the 2024 Federal Budget changes to the capital gains inclusion rate for professional corporations.
  • Planning within or outside the limits of the eligible shareholding rules for professional corporations.
  • Post-mortem planning with professional corporations.
  • Purification techniques with professional corporations.
