Canadian Rules for Electronic Interactions: CASL and PIPEDA

This course addresses 2 important topics that involve electronic interactions with your customers, Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, also known as CASL, and Privacy Principles (PIPEDA).
Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) helps deter spam, protect you from hackers and cyber threats, and help businesses continue to be competitive in a global marketplace. As you may both send and receive emails and other electronic messages, it’s important that you and your organization be in full compliance to ensure you do not violate these rules. Both individuals and organizations can be penalized for non-compliance.
Privacy Principles: Protection of Personal Information offers general privacy training and addresses the 10 fair information principles that apply to the collection, use, and disclosure of an individual’s personal information in the course of an organization’s commercial activities in the private sector.

Provincial regulators of CPAs in Canada do not require that independent providers of CPD be approved to offer courses. Instead, individual CPAs are responsible for assessing whether a CPD activity meets their requirements, and may take activities from any source provided those requirements are met.
Every course offered on LearnFormula is delivered by a qualified subject matter expert or learning organization, and advances learning objectives that are relevant to the responsibilities or professional competencies of Canadian CPAs. All activities on LearnFormula are quantifiable in terms of hours, and are also verifiable, in that users receive documented evidence of their attendance via a certificate of completion after finishing a course (and this certificate is stored by LearnFormula indefinitely). Nearly 100,000 Canadian CPAs successfully satisfy their CPD requirements via LearnFormula on an annual basis.
