Accountants: Rewire your brain in 10 easy steps

In modern times all jobs and professions are demanding more and more from their people and the accounting profession is no different. Now is the time to realise that you cannot change the situation, event, environment or the other people, so the smart move that you can take right now, is to change yourself.

Just like markets, products and industry life cycles, you need to approach your work differently and develop only the things that are within your control. You must remove all the clutter, distractions and uncontrollable factors from your working life.

This is where our work has helped untold numbers of accountants, leaders and other professionals. Our work turns the emphasis inwards and the determination to develop yourself through brain rewiring

Brain rewiring is an incredibly easy process if you know the how and why it needs to be done. If you accept the why, then the how needs a simple fundamental step by step blueprint to follow.

Retraining of your mind impacts upon the physical aspects of your brain in terms of brain chemistry and structure and to change these can bring tremendous benefits of health and wellbeing, performance, motivational drive and control and mastery of your actions.

How? A simple linking by all cognitions, emotions and behaviours. Thoughts trigger your feelings and these feeling affect the things that you do. The things that you do impact on your emotions and thoughts, so we have a 2 way street here, where all intangible mind and body interactions will change the physical structures in your brain through electro-chemicals sparks of energy that create or change neural connections and pathways.

These sparks produce neurotransmitters and hormones that circulate in body and mind. If you know what to do to make the changes that you want, you can be certain that positive and empowering changes will come to you. How do I know this, because decades of science and research and the help of FMRI machines prove the evidence.

So if you accept that your performance is the result of things that you do, not luck, then what makes you do the things that you do? Two things, neuroscience and psychology and a neuro-psychological approach to performance is the most robust and healthy approach to your life and career in particular.

Neuroscience aspects such as brain chemistry and structure can be changed and rewired through the right thoughts, emotions and actions and your psychology will store all that evidence once stored and changed.

So how can an accountant rewire his brain simply? Through an easy to follow 10 step blueprint that will achieve these desired results for you without you delving into decades of work. None of the 10 steps work in isolation, they are all interconnected as are all your brain areas. No single area of the brain is responsible for one single action and this is why it is so beautiful and complex. However, we know more now that we have ever known because we have seen it on the scans, the areas lit up by activity through blood flows.

The 10 Simple Steps

Self awareness: Nothing happens in performance without an understanding of where you are now and what is helping you and what is hindering you.

Performance Gap: This process identifies the size of the task from where you are today to where you want to be in some future determined time.

Goals: These are the means by which you will close that performance gap.

Motivation: The correct form of internal drive that will ensure that you achieve those goals.

Attitude: The professional approach that ensures that you stay on the path that you have created.

Psychological Core: The intangible parts of the mind, such as beliefs, values and mindset that converts neuroscience into psychology.

Stress, Anxiety and Pressure: The ultimate blocker to exceptional performance and wellbeing. Pressure can allow stress to enter your life and this results in a double form of anxiety that affects you at a psychological and neural levels.

Time Management: Really links with goals and is actually mind management. Time is a restricted concept that plays a fundamental part in our lives that we have partial control over and no control over.

Emotional Intelligence: The understanding of a crucial brain area, the limbic system and how you need to know which emotions are helpful or unhelpful for you but also for the people that you manage or report to. Not soft at all and involved in every decision in life.

Mental Toughness: The ability to be more resilient, gritty, determined, having bounce-back-ability and to persevere through challenge and obstacles. Learn to be in control and to be calm in the face of adversity and have the confidence to overcome.

So this is quick run through and blueprint that you can follow to completely change your career, wellbeing and life in general. We have been given the most incredible organ that we can master for our benefit but we need to know how to do this and we need to take action now.

I have a program available here that will take you through the 10 steps and give you all the strategies needed to be mentally strong and a winner.
