About
Biography
Mark Farrant is the Founder/CEO of the Canadian Juries Commission, a national not-for-profit organization representing Canadians serving on jury duty and coroner’s inquests. Mark was diagnosed with PTSD after serving as the jury foreman on a graphic First Degree Murder trial in 2014. Mark has since advocated for improved mental health support for jurors across Canada and improvements to jury service. Mark’s advocacy has spearheaded Federal legislation and studies to improve jury duty, and resulted in the introduction of post-trial Jury Duty Support Programs in British Columbia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. In August 2021, the Government of Canada announced its support to the Canadian Juries Commission for the BC Jury Duty Support Pilot, in partnership with the Attorney General of British Columbia, to provide Mental Health First Aid Training to BC Sheriffs, and the development of a Post-Trial Juror Peer Support Network. Mark has held senior roles in marketing and insights in Retail, CPG, Telecommunications, and Media across his 25-year career. Mark was named 1 of 150 CAMH Difference Makers in Mental Health as part of #Canada150.
